STRUCTURE

The ‘Consumer Rights Council’ functions as an organ of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee but remain independent and governed by a separate Charter.

JURISDICTION

The Council consists of 12 (Twelve) members; comprising of seven male members and five female members.

The Chief of the CPLC is an Ex-officio member of the council, and inclusive of the twelve members.

The City Nazim / Naib City Nazim represents the Government on the Council and shall be exclusive of the number of council members, but will exercise the voting right.

The Council is headed by a Chairperson, selected/elected from amongst the 12 members for a term of 2 (Two) years.

All members are appointed by the Honourable Governor Sindh, at the recommendation and in consultation with the Chief of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee, Karachi. All members of the Council are notified by the Home Department, Government of Sindh.

The members are appointed from amongst the persons of eminence, having standing in Business, Profession, Finance, Education, Public or Community Service and enlightened Housewives.

The Deputy Chief of the CPLC is the Honorary Secretary of the Council.

A member holds office at the pleasure of the Government, but may at any time resign from the membership by addressing a letter to the Government of Sindh.

Any matter required to be decided by the Council, is decided by majority votes, in a meeting of the council.
