Globally, consumer rights is a well developed area where consumers have been assigned certain rights and responsibilities to safeguard their interest and of the society with the assistance of organizations that facilitate to achieve this aim. Following the same vision, ‘Consumer Rights Council’ was established in Pakistan after promulgation of “The Consumer Protection Ordinance 2004”. CPLC decided to initiate this community project on the directive of the Honourable Governor of Sindh.

Going forward, a series of consolidated activities have been planned to create awareness among consumers, for their rights & responsibilities, and among organizations for their role in ensuring the delivery of these rights. To embark on the journey, an interactive session has been organized to seek the opinion of experts on the lapses in our society and discuss ideas presented by the youth, to vet out practical/viable solutions, as conclusion, for protecting consumer rights in our society.

Present on the occasion, along with contesting youth and general public, would be guests from media, academia, corporate and public sector. Mr. Ayaz Soomro (Law Minister), Dr. Kaiser Bengali (Advisor to CM), Ms. Qudsia Kadri (CEO Financial Post), Mr. Abid Ali Umang (MNA), Mr Shokat Zardari (KTN) would to be part of panel discussions. Mr. Ahmed Chinoi, Chief CPLC & CRC, will give the welcome note and address the audience to enlighten them with different aspects of consumer rights in Pakistan
